Cookie Policy
What this site stores in your browser
This site sets no cookies. It does store a few values in your browser’s local storage, and because the law treats those the same way cookies are treated, they are all listed here — what each one is for, how long it lasts, and how to refuse the ones that are optional.

1.Cookies, and why this policy is not only about cookies
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep and send back on your next visit. This site asks for none. What it does use is local storage and session storage, which hold values in your browser without sending them automatically.
The distinction matters technically and not at all legally: a persistent identifier in local storage identifies a returning visitor exactly as a cookie would, and the rules on consent apply to it in the same way. So we list it here and ask for consent where consent is required.
2.What we store
Three of these are necessary for the site to work or to honour a choice you have made, and are stored whatever you decide. One is optional and is stored only with your agreement.
- cc_consent — necessary, kept until you clear it
- Records the privacy choice you made, so we neither ask you on every page nor ignore a refusal. Remembering that you said no is itself a reason we have to store something.
- cc-theme — necessary, kept until you clear it
- Remembers whether you chose the light or dark appearance.
- cc_admin — necessary, discarded when the tab closes
- Holds an administrator sign-in for our own telemetry dashboard. It is never set for ordinary visitors.
- cc_vid — optional, kept for as long as you leave it there
- A random visitor identifier, so we can tell a returning visit from a new one. Set only if you accept analytics, and removed if you later decline.
- cc_sid — optional, discarded when the tab closes
- A random session identifier, so a single visit reads as one visit rather than a series of unrelated page loads. Set only if you accept analytics.
None of these hold your name, your email address, or anything you typed into a form.
3.Third parties
- Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights
- Aggregate traffic and page-performance measurement from our hosting provider. These load only when analytics is permitted.
- YouTube
- Serves a demonstration film on our gated demo page, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, which does not set tracking cookies unless you actually play the film.
- Vimeo
- May serve a demonstration film instead, loaded with its do-not-track setting on.
- Calendly
- We embed nothing from Calendly. If you follow a link to book a call you leave this site, and what Calendly stores is covered by their policy.
There are no advertising networks, no social media pixels, and no data brokers on this site.
4.How we ask
What we ask depends on where you are visiting from, which we determine from the country our host resolves for your connection. We do not store that country for this purpose, and we do not need your precise location to make the decision.
- United Kingdom, Switzerland, and the European Economic Area
- Nothing optional is loaded or stored until you accept. If you ignore the banner or dismiss it, that counts as a refusal and analytics stays off.
- Everywhere else
- Analytics runs when you arrive and the banner tells you so, with a single click to turn it off. Declining stops collection and deletes the identifiers already stored.
If we cannot work out where you are, we treat you as though you were in the first group and ask first.
5.Changing your mind
Use the privacy choices link, which appears in the footer of every page on this site. Your decision is remembered until you clear your browser storage, and you can reverse it as often as you like.
You can also clear or block site data in your browser’s own settings, which works regardless of anything we do. Doing so will remove your saved preferences along with everything else, including our record that you declined.
6.More
The Privacy Policy covers what we collect, why, who processes it, how long we keep it, and the rights you can exercise. Questions go to christian@codeandcounsel.ai.
