Privacy Policy
How this website handles your information
This policy describes what Code & Counsel, PLLC (“Code & Counsel,” “we,” “us”) collects when you visit codeandcounsel.ai or get in touch through it, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It covers this website only. Work we perform under an engagement is governed by that engagement’s terms and by our duty of confidentiality.

1.Who we are
Code & Counsel, PLLC is a legal engineering firm based in Fort Worth, Texas. For questions about this policy or about information we hold, write to christian@codeandcounsel.ai.
2.What we collect when you visit
We run our own analytics on this site rather than handing your browsing to an advertising network. Where consent is required, nothing below is collected until you give it — see the Cookie Policy for how that decision is made and how to change it.
- Identifiers we create
- A random visitor identifier stored in your browser, which lets us tell a returning visit from a new one, and a separate session identifier that is discarded when you close the tab. Neither contains your name or email, and neither is shared with anyone.
- Network information
- A truncated form of your IP address. We remove the host portion before storing it — the final block for IPv4, everything after the first three groups for IPv6 — so the full address is never written down.
- Location
- Country, region, city, timezone, and approximate latitude and longitude, derived from your IP address by our hosting provider. This is inferred from your network, not read from your device’s location services.
- Device and browser
- Browser user-agent string, operating system, device type, screen and window size, pixel ratio, and language setting.
- What you looked at
- Pages viewed, page titles, time spent on a page, the site that referred you, any campaign tags in the link you followed, and clicks on our email addresses or scheduling links.
We do not use this information to build advertising profiles, and we do not run advertising or behavioural tracking on this site.
3.What we collect when you contact us
- Enquiry and intake forms
- Your name, email address, organisation, and whatever you choose to tell us in your own words. Our intake form saves your answers as you go, so a partial response may be stored once you have entered a name and email, even if you do not finish.
- Demo access
- If you unlock a demonstration film, we record the email address you entered and which film it was.
- Email and scheduling
- If you email us or book a call, we hold that correspondence in the ordinary course of business.
Please do not send confidential client information through these forms. They are for arranging a conversation, not for privileged material, and no attorney–client relationship is formed by submitting one.
4.Why we collect it
Analytics tells us which pages are worth keeping and where people give up, on a site run by two people with no marketing department. Enquiry information exists so that a person can answer you.
For visitors in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and the European Economic Area, our legal basis for analytics is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time, and our basis for handling an enquiry is our legitimate interest in responding to you and taking steps toward a possible engagement at your request.
5.How long we keep it
- Website analytics
- Ninety days, after which records are deleted automatically. The store is also capped, so the oldest records are dropped once it is full, whichever comes first.
- Enquiries and intake responses
- For as long as needed to respond to you and to maintain the business relationship, and afterwards where we are required to retain records. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.
6.Who else handles it
We keep the number of parties small and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone. The following providers process information on our behalf, under their own terms:
- Vercel
- Hosts this website, resolves approximate location from your IP address at the network edge, and provides aggregate traffic and page-performance measurement.
- Upstash
- Provides the database in which analytics records and form submissions are stored.
- Resend
- Delivers the notification email that tells us you have been in touch, which contains what you submitted.
- Google Cloud
- Hosts the interactive Lantair demonstration linked from our Lantair page. Opening it means interacting with an application on Google’s infrastructure.
- YouTube and Vimeo
- Serve demonstration films. Both are configured in their privacy-preserving modes.
- Calendly
- Handles call booking. This applies only if you follow a booking link, which takes you to Calendly’s own site under their privacy policy.
7.Where it is held
We are a Texas firm and our providers store this information in the United States. If you are visiting from outside the United States, using this site involves transferring your information there, where privacy laws differ from those of your own country.
8.Your choices and your rights
You can decline analytics at any time using the privacy controls on this site, and your refusal is remembered. Declining does not limit anything else the site does.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to obtain a copy, to correct it, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent you have given. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
To exercise any of these, email christian@codeandcounsel.ai. We will not treat you differently for asking. We may need to confirm your identity before acting, and we will tell you if we cannot do what you have asked and why. If you are in the UK, Switzerland, or the EEA and you believe we have handled your information badly, you may also complain to your national supervisory authority.
9.Storage in your browser
This site sets no cookies. It does store a small number of values in your browser, which the law treats the same way. The Cookie Policy lists each one, what it is for, and how long it lasts.
10.Security
Access to stored information is restricted and protected by authentication, transport to and from this site is encrypted, and we minimise what we collect in the first place — which is why the IP address is truncated before it is stored rather than after. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
11.Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date above. If a change materially affects how we use information about you, we will ask for your choice again rather than assume the old one still stands.
